Scope

 This specification covers multi-core, XLPE insulated cables for use on the Qatar 11kV Distribution System for underground installation in general and rarely to be used for above ground.  These cables are complying with IEC 60502-2 and Kahramaa Standard specification No.EP-MS-P4/S3-030

 

Design

1. Conductor

Plain annealed high-conductivity Stranded Copper Class 2 conforming to IEC 60228.

2. Insulation

Extruded Inner semiconductive layer,XLPE insulation and extruded outer semiconductive layer.

3. Metalic Screen

Copper wire screen with open helix copper tape each layer.

4. Inner Sheathing or Bedding

Extruded PVC 

5. Armour

Galvanized Steel Wire Armour (SWA) with Non-conducting Water Blocking Tape above and below the armour layer

6. Outer Sheath

Polyvinyl Chloride 'PVC'

 - Flame retardant : IEC60332-1

 - Colour :  Red
